The Pros and Cons of AI Image
Uncover the remarkable & unremarkable advantages and challenges posed by leveraging AI images.
Just look at the two pictures and compare them.
From left is my work, where I spent a time for searching moments for shooting into real life.
From right is AI-generated images in 30 seconds from ultra detailed description of left photo.
A now, what I think about AI in photography?
AI is devaluing the work of photographers, here are some points to consider:
- Accessibility: AI tools can enable more people to take aesthetically pleasing photos with minimal effort. This democratization of photography means that the barriers to entry are lowered, potentially impacting professional photographers’ business prospects.
- Automation of Editing: AI-powered editing software can automate tasks that previously required skilled human intervention, such as retouching, color correction, and organizing images. This can reduce the demand for professional photo editing services.
- Creative Concerns: AI-generated images lack the personal touch, creativity, and emotional depth that a human photographer brings to their work. However, as AI technology advances, the lines between human-made and machine-generated art may blur, may reduce the need for traditional artistic skills, diminishing the appreciation for craftsmanship and human touch in art.
- Market Saturation: With AI making it easier to produce and edit photos, the market may become saturated with images, making it harder for individual photographers to stand out and gain recognition.
- Valuation of Art, as one from important aspect: The increasing use of AI in creative fields raises questions about the value of art and the role of the artist. If a machine can produce something that many find appealing, what does that mean for the perceived value of human-created work? It means AI is as an enemy for art created by human.
However, it’s also important to recognize potential positive aspects of AI in photography:
- Enhanced Creativity: Photographers can use AI tools to enhance their creativity, explore new styles, and streamline their workflow, allowing them to focus more on the artistic aspects of their work.
- Collaboration: Photographers view AI as a partner rather than a competitor. Using AI to generate ideas, assist in editing, or even create hybrid forms of art that blend human and machine contributions.
- Quality and Consistency: AI tools can help photographers maintain a certain level of quality and consistency across their work. AI can open up new opportunities like the creation of personalized images for clients or the exploration of innovative formats and genres that haven’t been possible before.
Well, my conclusion from of challenge is:
Overall, while AI presents major challenges to traditional photography or art, it also offers new possibilities. As the technology continues to evolve, it’s important to navigate these pros and cons mindfully, ensuring that the use of AI enhances rather than detracts from human creativity and integrity. The impact of AI on the art area will depend on how photographers or artists adapt to these changes and leverage technology to enhance their artistic expression.
Are AI-generated images is photo or art? I don’t think AI-generated images are considered photos in the traditional sense and this images are created algorithmically using models trained on large datasets.
